Publix 5/6/2011 $49.09 spent with a $50 BP gas card!!!

Well, I've been very slack on my posting lately. The life of a full time mom & college student. But since my semester is over & I'm out until August it's time to get my tail in gear with my couponing. So hopefully I'll have more time to blog. But now, down to business...

So today was payday which means I knew I would be getting at least $50 in gas. This week Publix has a coupon in their salepaper to get a $50 gas card for $10 off ($40) when you buy $25 in groceries. So I decided since I needed gas anyway to see what kind of deal I could work out. I went to southernsavers.com to get the weekly Publix sales & coupon match ups.

Here's what I came up with to get my gas card with a few other items that we use.

6- 10 lb. bags of Tidy cats liter (B1G1 sale-$1.15 each)
6- Publix colas (no coupons) $.50 each
1- Glad Flex Force trash bags 38 ct. $5.49
1- Zantac 150 24 ct. $9.99
2- Heluva Good french onion dips $2.09 each (in fridge-forgot to put in pic)
1- 3bar pk Ivory soap $1.29
1- Pepperidge Farm cake (no coupon-on sale B1G1) $2.10
1- Publix reusable bag (not pictured-left in car) $.99
1- $50 BP gas card

coupons used:
(6) Tidy Cats printable coupons $1.10/each
(1) Glad trash bags printable coupon $1.00
(1) Publix Zantac store coupon $3.00
(1) Zantac printable coupon $5.00
(1) Publix B1G1 Heluva Good dip store coupon (took off $2.09)
(2) Heluva Good printable coupons $.50/each-doubled by store
(1) Ivory soap coupon from sunday inserts $1.00
(1) Free Publix reusable bag store coupon (from a Publix fridge magnet Bri got last week)
(1) $10 gas card coupon from the Publix sales paper
(1) $5 off $30 Publix store coupon (found in Walmart parking lot-thanks whoever dropped it!)

Total $85.57 (with store sale prices on items)
Total oop (after coupons) $49.09

Total savings $49.55 (includes sale prices & all coupons)

I paid my $49.09, loaded up the car then drove across the street & used my $50 gas card. Getting all this for $49.09 was a lot better than just pulling up to the tank & dropping $50 without getting anything else.

If you haven't checked out southernsavers.com & want to learn how to save big, I suggest you go there to get started. Jenny posts the store sales with the coupon matchups weekly. And of course if you have any questions, just email me or call me. I'll be glad to help all I can. Oh, and I can't find my camera charger so I used my little video camera to show my stuff.

Happy shopping...Lori

1- Triaminic Children's Cough & cold $5

For my flu shot (my card), I bought:

CVS 8/22

So, I made my early morning trip for paper towels & toilet paper. Not too happy about the oop though. :( I had a scenerio worked out to be under $10, but that got shot all to crap. (lol-good thing I got toilet paper now.)

Here's how it went:

Transaction #1
2-Glade sense & spray $5/each
used 2 $3 Glade coupons
used $4 ecb from yesterday
total oop: $.70 (earned $3 ecb)

Transaction #2
1-Bounty 16 ct paper towels $9.99
1-Charmin 16 ct tiolet paper $12.99
3-Puffs box tissues $.99/each
2-M&M's single bags $.89/each (just because I got a coupon for scanning card)
used $.25 Bounty coupon
used $.25 Charmin coupon
used $.25/3 Puffs coupon
used $.50/2 M&M's coupon
used $3 ecb from T#1 & $7.99 ecb from yesterday
tried to use the 30% off coupon but was told I couldn't because I bought all sale items (ugh! what??) I just paid because the cashier was friendly & patient.
total oop: $16.52
I looked the coupon over when I got to the car & sure enough he was right, "not valid on sale items". Darn! Oh well, I hate my oop total, but we have toilet paper & paper towels! And I earned $10 in ecb's to use next trip.

CVS 8/21

I knew I had to get to CVS tonight to get the good deals for 8/22-8/28. There's so many couponers in my area that the stuff goes fast. Since our CVS starts their sales on Saturday afternoon, I always try to go then to get the deals before they're gone. Sure enough, when I walked through the door I saw the "shelf clearers" at work. The Crest toothpaste was almost gone. Only 3 left so I grabbed my limit of 2.
Here's what I got:

Transaction #1
2-Crest Pro Health toothpaste $3.49/each
2-Listerine mouthwash
1-Reinventing Beauty magazine $.99 (has CVS & mfg coupons in it)

used (2) $.75 Crest coupons
used (2) $2.00 Listerine coupons
used $2.00 & $7.99 ecb's from last week

total oop: $1.58 (earned $4 & $5 ecb's)

Transaction #2
1-Blink Gel Tears eye drops $7.99

used $1.50 Blink coupon
used $5.00 ecb from 1st transaction

total oop: $2.05 (earned $7.99 ecb & still have $4 ecb from t#1 = $11.99)

I wanted to get the P&G buy $25 worth get $10 ecb, but the Bounty was not out yet. So, I plan to make an early trip tomorrow morning when I go to get my morning paper. I also got a 30% off purchase coupon from the card scanner machine. Working of my least oop right now. I'll update tomorrow.
